How to export DeepSeek chats to PDF, Word or Markdown

DeepSeek's own site lets you copy answers, share a chat by link, and manage your history in Settings. It has no button that saves a conversation as a document, and its reasoning section is the part most people want to keep. Backup My AI Chat exports the open DeepSeek chat to PDF, Word, Markdown, text, JSON or image, with the thinking section included if you want it, and Auto-save keeps every chat as a Markdown file with its citations and sources.

What DeepSeek itself offers

DeepSeek's privacy policy says you may copy or delete your chat history through your settings (DeepSeek privacy policy), and its terms describe sharing a conversation by URL (DeepSeek terms of use). Some third-party guides describe an export option under Settings that produces a JSON file; DeepSeek's own documents do not describe it, so check your settings for what your account offers today.

None of these gives you a conversation as a document with its reasoning section, and none keeps a folder of your chats up to date.

One chat as a file, with Backup My AI Chat

  1. Add Backup My AI Chat to Chrome or Edge and open the conversation on chat.deepseek.com.
  2. Press Export and choose PDF, Word, Markdown, text, JSON or image.
  3. To keep only some messages, open Custom Export and tick the ones you want.

Headings, lists, tables, code blocks, links and maths keep their formatting, and DeepSeek's thinking section can be included where the site shows one. Files are made in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

Every DeepSeek chat, kept in a folder

Auto-save writes each DeepSeek conversation to a folder as a Markdown file and keeps it current. For DeepSeek it saves the thinking section, the citations and sources an answer used, and the names of files you uploaded.

  1. Open Backup My AI Chat from the browser toolbar and go to Auto-save chats to a folder.
  2. Under Folder, choose a folder on your computer. Chrome asks once whether the extension may edit files in that folder. Auto-save writes nowhere else; one-off exports go to your Downloads folder.
  3. Under Accounts, tick the services to include. Each one shows whether you are signed in.
  4. Under Sync, pick how often to check for new and updated chats, then press Sync now. The first run saves your whole history; later runs save only what changed. A service is synced a few chats at a time, and if a site answers "too many requests" the extension slows down for that service rather than failing.

The Sync settings. “Overwrite files I have edited” is off by default, so a file you have changed is left as it is.

DeepSeek chats go into a DeepSeek subfolder, next to the folders for your other assistants. Each file is ordinary Markdown whose header lists title, source, conversation id, link, created, updated, model, message count and tags, followed by the conversation with one heading per message.

Questions

Can I export a DeepSeek chat to PDF?

DeepSeek has no PDF export of its own. Open the chat, press Export in Backup My AI Chat and choose PDF, or print the page from your browser and check the result.

Is the thinking section kept?

Yes, if you want it. One-off exports include the thinking section when the "Include thinking content" setting is on, and Auto-save has its own "Include thinking and reasoning blocks" option.

Are citations and sources kept?

Yes. Auto-saved DeepSeek files keep the citations and sources an answer used.

Can I export all my DeepSeek chats at once?

Auto-save in Backup My AI Chat saves every DeepSeek chat as a Markdown file on its first run. Bulk Export then turns the saved chats into PDF or Word files.
